The
President of USA Barack Obama and Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin
Netanjahu discussed the politics of “peace and security” which
main aims Netanjahu will present in a few days – informed the
governments of both countries.
Obama and
Netanjahu has started the discussion when American-Israel relations
are very difficult. From the change of governments in both countries
the tension between them has grown up as never before. (…)
The
conversation of both leaders preceded the visit of special American
delegate to Middle East George Mitchell who is going to meet on
Tuesday with Prime Minister Szimon Peres and with ministers of
foreign affairs and security - Avigdor Lieberman and Ehud Barak. The
following day Mitchell is going to meet the President Mahmud Abbas
and other Palestinian leaders in Ramallah, the real capital of
Autonomy. (…)
The White House has also
added that the President has underlined his will to guarantee the
security of Israel; he appealed in the same time to the government in
Tel-Aviv for total restraint from the colonization of the West Bank
of Jordan River and the creation of the Palestinian state. Both of
these are reasons of tensions between allies. (…)
According
to Reuter, Prime Minister of Israel has accented that he is ready to
start the negotiations with Abbas in the area of economy, security
and other – not precise – political issues. Palestinians do not
agree to concentrate more on the economic issues than the territory
ones.
Reuter’s Agency also evoked that
Abbas said on Monday that there is no sense in coming back to
negotiations with Israel if Netanjahu does nothing to stop the
expansion of Jewish colonies on the West Bank of Jordan River. [R.S.]
